Hampshire Leaders Skills Weekends 2026

Saturday & Sunday 24th & 25th October 2026

Venue: Ferny Crofts Activity Centre
Times: Saturday 09:00 to 16:30 & Sunday 09:00 to 15:00

This is opportunity to join other leaders from across the County to revisit existing skills and learn some new ones to help you with your section activities

The weekends will be held at Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre, Beaulieu Road, Brockenhurst, Hampshire. SO42 7YQ

These weekends are flexible so there is no need to book a whole day / weekend.
You only need to book the skills you would like to attend.

The next date for the Skills Weekend is Saturday & Sunday 20th & 21st March 2027 (some skills may change for this weekend).


Module Residential Weekend
(3rd / 4th October 2026)

Times: Saturday – 09.00 to Sunday 16:00
Venue: Ferny Crofts Activity Centre

If you have completed your Growing the Roots training and wish to work towards your wood badge, then this weekend will cover the required modules to allow you to do this.

The modules to be covered over the weekend are
Module 08: Skills of Leadership
Module 09: Working with Adults
Module 13: Growing the section
Module 16: Introduction to Residential Experiences
Module 18: Practical Skills
Module 19: International

The learning will be a full weekend starting on the Saturday (09:00) and finishing on Sunday (16:00). Food and indoor accommodation will be provided.

More details will be provided near to the weekend.

The next available weekend to complete this module is the 6th & 7th March 2027.


Module 38 (Skills for Residential Experiences)
(9th / 10th May 2026)

Times: Saturday 08:45 to Sunday 15:00
Venue: Ferny Crofts Activity Centre

This residential learning experience for Skills for Residential Experiences (Module 38), will be held at the Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre.

Module 38 is a full weekend starting on Saturday (08:45) to Sunday (15:00). Food and accommodation is provided, however you will sleep in tents on the Saturday night.

During the weekend you will learn about using and storing camping equipment, choosing a site, planning, paperwork, catering, as well as programme ideas, and gain the skills and knowledge to take your section away.

You will need to have completed the Introduction to Residential Experiences (Module 16) prior, for you to get the full benefit from the weekend.

More details will be provided near to the weekend.

Presenting skills
Sunday 5th July 2026

Times: 09:30 to 16;30
Venue: Lyndhurst Scout HQ, New Forest

For leaders that want to become first aid trainers, be part of the adult learning team, or have to stand up and present to other volunteers as part of their role.

Module 25 (Assessing Learning)
Sun 17th May or Sat 26th September

Times: 10:00 to 12:30
Venue: TBC

This learning is for those wishing to become Learning Assessors (LA), Nights Away Assessors (NAA)  or Activity Assessors (AA).
